Tree work done by people who know the trees here

Northeast Kansas has its own problems. Emerald ash borer is established across Douglas and Shawnee counties, pine wilt has taken most of the Scots pine windbreaks, and the silver maple planted everywhere in the fifties is the species most likely to drop a limb in a June storm.

How we work

Six things you can hold us to

Not a mission statement. These are the specific commitments that show up on every quote we write.

A certified arborist writes every quote

The person who tells you a tree has to come out is the person qualified to know. That matters most on the jobs where the honest answer is that it does not have to come out at all.

The quote is the price

What you sign is what you pay. If the crew finds rot or a hazard once the work starts, we stop and talk to you before anything changes. Nobody gets a bill they did not agree to.

Your property gets protected

Plywood and mats wherever a machine crosses turf. Drop zones planned around what is underneath. On soft ground after rain we reschedule rather than rut a lawn, even when that costs us the day.

Cleanup is included, not an upsell

Chips, limbs, and rounds leave with us, and the work area gets raked and blown down. If you burn firewood, tell us and we will cut the trunk into rounds and stack them for free.

We will talk you out of work

Plenty of calls end with a reduction instead of a removal, or a note to look at the tree again in two years. A tree service that only ever recommends removal is not diagnosing, it is selling.

Insurance before we start

A certificate goes to you or your risk manager before the crew arrives. If a tree company cannot produce one, the liability for anything that goes wrong on your property lands on you.

Why we will not top a tree

Topping means cutting a trunk or main leader back to a stub, and it is still the most commonly requested tree service in Kansas. It is also the one thing we turn down.

A stub cannot close over. The wound stays open, decay moves down into the trunk, and the tree responds by pushing out a dense flush of shoots attached only to the outer layer of wood. Those shoots grow fast, look healthy, and snap in the first real wind. Five years after a topping you have a larger, weaker, more expensive problem than the one you paid to solve.

If a tree genuinely has outgrown its spot, a crown reduction gets you the same clearance by cutting back to living lateral branches that can take over. It costs more and takes longer, and it is the version worth paying for. If the tree is too far gone for that, we will say so and quote the removal instead.

The rest of the family

Kindred Tree Services is the tree care side of a group that has been working outdoor property across eastern Kansas for years. Trees are what we do, and they are all we do. When a job needs something outside that, it goes to the people who do only that thing.

  • Kindred Outdoor Solutions

Hardscapes, landscaping, putting greens, artificial turf, and landscape lighting across the Kansas City metro.

  • Clean Cut Lawn Care

Lawn care, irrigation, lawn treatments, and snow removal in Topeka and the surrounding counties.

Shared ownership, separate crews, separate trades. If a job touches more than one of them we will make the introduction rather than stretch outside what we are good at.

What happens next

Three steps, and the first one takes 45 seconds

No sales visit, no pressure, and a written number before anyone touches a saw.

  1. Stand of bare dying trees with no leaf cover standing among healthy green growth 1

    Tell us about the tree

Three questions, about 45 seconds. Or call and skip the form entirely.

  2. Sawyer in a helmet with face screen and ear protection checking his chainsaw before a cut 2

    We come look at it

A certified arborist walks the property, checks access, and writes the quote on site. Free, and you do not need to be home.

  3. Groundman feeding a leafy limb into an orange towable brush chipper parked in a suburban driveway 3

We do the work and clean up

Crew arrives in the window we quoted. Chips, limbs, and debris leave with us unless you want them kept.

In a hurry? Call (785) 550-0100 and skip all three.
