Cost scales with wood volume, not height. Doubling the trunk diameter roughly quadruples the weight the crew has to rig, cut, and haul.
What is underneath it
A tree in an open field gets felled in one piece. The same tree over a roof, a fence, or a power drop gets taken apart in sections and lowered on ropes, which takes hours longer.
Whether the truck can reach it
If the chipper can park next to the tree, brush goes straight in. If everything has to be carried through a 36 inch gate to the street, the labor doubles.
Whether the tree is alive
Dead wood cannot be safely climbed, so a dead tree usually needs a bucket truck or a crane. Waiting until an ash is dead is what makes it expensive.

How much does tree removal cost in Lawrence or Topeka?

Do you clean everything up?
Yes, and it is included rather than extra. Chips, limbs, and rounds leave with us, and we rake and blow down the work area. If you burn firewood, say so and we will cut the trunk into rounds and stack them at no charge.
Will your equipment damage my lawn or driveway?
We put plywood or ground protection mats anywhere a machine crosses turf, and we plan the drop zone so the heavy wood lands where it does the least damage. On soft ground after rain we would rather reschedule than rut a lawn.
Do I need a permit to remove a tree in Kansas?
Trees on private property are generally the owner's to manage. Street trees and anything in the public right of way usually fall to the city. If you are not sure which yours is, we will check before we quote.
Are you insured?
Yes, and we will send the certificate directly to you or to your risk manager before we start. If a tree company cannot produce one, the liability for anything that goes wrong on your property lands on you.
